The Moving Body - Moving Image Festival gives voice to social justice themes in the hybrid form of filmmaking, also called ScreenDance. The 2018 inaugural one-day Festival will focus on the brown body and its representation on screen.
The day will feature two programs of films, selected student films, roundtable discussions, and an installation by Ayo Janeen Jackson.
Among the films selected will be Jury Award Winner of ScreenDance Miami, Black Stain by Director Tiffany Rhynard and Choreographer Trent D. Williams, check out the trailer below.
Afro Promo #1 KINGLADY by Nora Chipaumire, film work by Arthur Jafa, the Sundance Film Festival award-winning cinematographer of Julie Dash's seminal Daughters of the Dust, Spike Lee's Crooklyn. And much more. Stay tuned.
Moderators and speakers include Bessie award winning dance critic Eva Yaa Asantewaa. All selected films will be announced at the end of February.
