Caroline Fermin is a choreographer, performer, and educator based in New York. Her work integrates community engagement practices, somatics, and the concepts of instinct and play. Most recently she choreographed for Target Margin Theater’s production of Show/Boat: A River at NYU Skirball. Other choreography credits include collaborations with Daniel Talbot on the plays Selkie and Ugly Little Sister; work with Brian Mertes and his Lake Lucille Chekhov Project; and developing a youth show with The Orchestra of Saint Luke’s. She has also choreographed pieces for University of South Carolina, Barnard, Stockton University and DeSales University and her work has been seen at Juilliard’s Wilson Theater, Mount Holyoke, The Cell, The IRT Theater, and Palacio de Bellas Artes in the Dominican Republic. Caroline was a founding member of Gallim Dance which performed and toured nationally and internationally. She later became the company's education chair and rehearsal director. She has performed as a ballet dancer with James Sewell Ballet and Chamber Dance Ensemble and has freelanced with Jeanette Stoner, Esme Boyce, Rain Ross, and Sidra Bell among others. Caroline graduated from The Juilliard School (BFA) and Wilson College (MFA). As an educator she works for Juilliard’s K-12 division and mentoring program and is on faculty at Barnard College and Marymount Manhattan College, where she teaches modern and improvisation.
